Recruiting Update 4

Wow!  I have recently received my first Offer from a University.  The University of Utah Utes have offered me a Full Athletic  Scholarship to play football for them as a runningback.  Utah is currently undefeated at 11-0 and ranked #7 Nationally in the BCS (Bowl Championship Series).  I am truly honored that they have decided that I would be someone who would be an addition to their great team and University.  I have watched some of their games and I like their wide open style.  This offer is proof of the hard work that  my team,  parents, school and coaches have put in, for without them this would not be possible.
I am looking forward to learning more in the future about Utah, it's University and meeting the coaches and staff.

Next Game: Riordan

This week will be facing Archbishop Riordan on Saturday at 1:00 p.m. at Frietas Field.  We are two games away from achieving one of our goals which is a WCAL Championship.  Riordan has defeated us the last two years and seems to play us better than most teams.  This should be a good gauge to see  how far we have come as a team and program.  We enter the game 4-1 in league and in a first place tie with Bellarmine and Sacred Heart.  This weekend is very important in determining who will be WCAL Champion(s) this year.  Come out and show your support!

Bellarmine Post Game

Wow! We just got ourselves a great victory.  We played a tough Bellarmine team who were #1  in nor cal and number #3 in the state. They played a great game.  We just played better. We out hit them and we out played them.  We just wanted it more. The game started off with a deep pass to a Bellarmine receiver for a big gain, but our defense prevailed and they stayed strong the whole night. Our offense had another strong game as usual. The Score was tied at 3 to 3 after both teams traded field goals. We scored with two unanswered touchdowns, to make it 17 to 3 with a couple of minutes left before half time.  Bellarmine anwserd with a touchdown of there own to make it 17 to 10 at the half.  In the second half Bellermine scored a touchdown to make it 17 to 16,but they miss the extra point. Which made a huge moementum swing. We went on to score the next two touchdowns and left only less then 2 minutes on the clock for  the Bells to try to catch up.  The Final Score ended up being 31 to 23.  Bellarmine played hard and a physical game.   We  just got the best of them on  that night. We adavnced to 3-1 in league and 4-3 overall. We are now in a four way tie with Bellarmine,Valley Christan, and SacredHeart.

Next Game: St. Ignatius

This Saturday on November 1, 2008 we will be facing the St. Ignatius Wildcats.   The game will start at 2:00 p.m.   This is a very important game for us.  We are coming off our biggest win of the year in defeating the Bellarmine Bells.  That victory puts us in a 4 way tie for first place with Sacred Heart Cathedral, Valley Christian and Bellarmine.  The Wildcats are coming off a victory over Riordan.  They are 4-3 and are in position for a CCS playoff spot.  We need to stay on course of our season goals, one of which is a WCAL Title.  This game will show how much we have matured as a team as well as how focused we are.  Come out and show your support.  Go Padres!

Post Game
I'm sorry I have not posted my thoughts on the Bellarmine game yet.  It was a big game for us and I have been busy with school and getting ready for SI.   I'll try to have my thoughts on the game tonight.

Serra versus St. Francis: Post Game

On Saturday October 18th, we defeated the St. Francis Lancers at Frietas Field.  The lancers came into the game tied with us at 1-1 in league play.  The game was close in the first half with us leading 14-3 at halftime.  We committed several penalties and turnovers which stopped several drives.  The Lancers converted one of their drives into 3 points.  The second half we played better and were able to shut them out the rest of the game.  They fought hard and did not make things easy for us.  We pulled away in the second half outscoring them 21-0 for the final score of 35-3.  The best part of this win was that our defense played great.  This gives us a big boost going into our game with Bellarmine.

Next Game: Bellarmine

On Friday October 24th at 7:00 p.m. we will be taking on Bellarmine College Preparatory at San Jose City College.  This will be our biggest game of the season as it may have a direct impact on who wins the WCAL league Title.  Bellarmine enters the game ranked #1 in Northern California and in first place in the league with a 3-0 record.  We are 2-1 in league play.   A win  will give us atleast a tie for first in the league with Bellarmine.  This should be a great game and one you don't want to miss.

Next Game

On Saturday October 18, 2008 we will be facing the St. Francis Lancers on our home field. This will be a game against not only a league opponent but a storied rival. They are comming off a big win against SI and we want to continue our momentum towards achieving our season goals. The game is at 1:00 and should be a good one.

Serra versus Sacred Heart Cathedral: Post Game

On Friday night of October 10, 2008, we beat Sacred Heart Cathedral. This was a very tough win for us as we were playing in our second league game and we could not afford to go 0-2 in league play. The game was close 13-7 after Sacred Heart scored with about 40 seconds left before halftime. We recieved the kickoff and scored on the next play to give us a 20-7 lead before halftime and the momentum leading into the second half. We went on to have a great second half and pulled away for a 41 to 14 win. Sacred heart was a very talented team but this was a game where we finally played a complete four quarters and we showed what we can do when that happens. As always in the WCAL each week is a challenge. Next week we take on the St. Francis Lancers at 1:00 @ Frietas Field. St. Francis is one of our biggest rivals and this should be a great event. Come out and show your support.

Recruiting Update 3

This week I have one new school showing intrest. It is the University Of Oregon Ducks. They also play in the Pac-10 Confrence. I heard it is a fine educational institution and has nice atheltic facilities. I also understand that they have a great surronding community. I look forword to the upcomeing recruiting procces involving the Oregon Ducks.

Next Game:

On Friday October 10th 2008, we will be playing Sacred Heart Cathedral Preparatory in a home game at Frietas Field.  This will be a big game for us as we will be trying to even our league record at 1-1 and staying on course for our pre season objectives.  This will be an exciting game and I hope you can come out and support us.  If you can not attend I will be having a post following the game on Saturday.

Serra vs Valley Christian: Post Game

On Saturday night of October 4, 2008, we lost another tough game to Valley Christian. This was a very tough loss for us as we were playing in our season league opener and failed to win an important game against one of the league favorites. Both teams scored on it's first possessions and showed why they are two of the top teams in the league. The score was 16-7 at half time after VC scored on a late second quarter touchdown with seconds left aided by a penalty and great catch. We cut the lead to 16-14 on the last play of the 3rd Quarter and could not get any closer than two points the rest of the game. I am still confident that we will be one of the teams to beat by seasons end. Our offense and defense is getting better each game and we are really practicing hard. It will be nice to get back home in front of our fans. Our schedule has been one of the most difficult schedules that any team had to face. We face another test on Friday versus Sacred Heart Cathedral Preparatory of San Francisco. This will be a big game for us and we know SHC will be ready as well. Expect a great game!

Recruiting Update 2

I'm still receiving correspondence and interest from Nebraska and UCLA. I have been invited to attend a picnic and the UCLA versus Fresno State Football Game this Saturday, in Pasadena at the Rose Bowl but I will not be able to attend because of previously scheduled team commitments. I would have loved to have been able to attend the event and meet the coaches, especially Coach Neuheisel.

Serra versus McQueen of Nevada: Post Game

On Friday September 18th we played and lost to McQueen of Reno, Nevada 24-7. McQueen is the #1 ranked team in Northern Nevada. After the close De La Salle loss we had a short week to prepare for another great team in McQueen. After they drove in their opening drive for a touchdown and a 7-0 lead. We responded by going down on a long drive and scoring to tie the game up at 7-7. The score remained the same until a questionable interference call gave McQueen a first down right before half to keep a drive alive in which they eventually scored. During the first half we had several opportunities to score and did not capitalize on them. We played them close despite missing some key players who would have helped us in this game. I'm not taking anything away from McQueen but It is tough to play a team like them on a short week and with several key players missing from the lineup. The score was 17 to 7 in the fourth quarter and we almost recovered a mishandled punt by McQueen which they recovered on their own 5 yard line. They say football is a game of inches. We have learned this the past two weeks. We will have time to heal and get healthy by the time we play Valley Christian. This will be a tough test but we're ready for the challenge. Go Padres!!

De La Salle versus Serra : Post Game

Yesterday we lost to #1 ranked De Lasalle. This was a hard lost to take because we dominated them from the 1st quarter on and if not for a mishap on an extra point, I feel we would have won. Our team showed great character and I am proud to be a Serra Padre. Most teams who are down by 21 points, yet to the number one team in the country would have folded their tents and went home. Not Us! We no what type of team we have and what type of character we have. We have a great coach in coach Walsh and a great coaching staff. They have prepared us well to face adversity and any challenges that come before us. This is only the tip of the iceberg as we have not in my opinion played our best complete game. Look for bigger and better things from the Padres

Recruiting Update

After receiving several questionaires from Universities and Colleges over the past 8 months, It seems that the recruiting process has stepped up. After receiving some interest from Cal earlier in the year, I have recently received interest from two other major Universities. They are the University of Nebraska Cornhuskers and the UCLA Bruins. Nebraska has won many National Championships in it's rich history and has produced several Heisman Trophy winners. They play in the Big 12 Conference. UCLA is also a school with a rich storied tradition. They have also produced Heisman Trophy winners, most notably Troy Aikman. Both universities have told me that I will be one of the players they will be looking at for their recruiting class of 2010. I feel honored to have these two great institutions show an interest in me.
